Papermaking Workshop at GT Connections

Join us for a fun paper-making workshop for seniors and their grandkids! Papermaking is a simple and creative craft that you can easily do at home with loved ones. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll transform used paper and other materials into beautiful, one-of-a-kind creations. You’ll receive all the tips and tricks to continue making your own paper at home. Plus, you’ll be able to take home everything you make! This workshop will be led by Christina Threloff, owner of My Lovely Muse. We can’t wait to create with you!

This workshop is drop-in style, meaning you can come anytime within the 1-3pm timeframe. Making paper can take as little as a couple minutes to make one sheet, but you can make as many as your heart desires!

COST: This workshop will be donation based. Feel free to pay whatever you think it’s worth, or just come to try a new skill with loved ones on a budget!

WHAT TO BRING: Feel free to bring any fun embellishments to add to your paper, such as seeds, colorful paper scraps, threads, or anything else that sparks your creativity! Your paper may not be completely dry by the time you leave. In that case, parchment paper will be provided so you can safely travel home with your new paper, or you can bring your own fabric (pillow cases, towels, etc.) for the paper to dry on and to transport home with you.

Papermaking Workshop at Haven + Main (Copy)
Jun

12:00 PM12:00

Papermaking Workshop at Haven + Main (Copy)

The art of papermaking is really quite easy and something you can learn and do at home with friends and family! We will be making paper out of used paper and other materials. You’ll get all the tips and tricks to make on your own and you’ll be able to take home what you make. Feel free to bring any embellishments you’d like to add to your paper like seeds, colorful paper, threads, etc. All ages welcome (accompanied by an adult).

Each participant will take home whatever paper they make. Sometimes the paper doesn’t dry before class ends, and in that case it might need to dry overnight and be picked up at Haven + Main the next day. If you’d like to take your paper home on the day of the workshop, just be sure to bring your own fabric/pillow cases/rags/drying mats/felt pieces/any material you have so the fabric can dry on it and you can take it home without needing to return. Bring as many pieces of fabric as pieces of paper you’d like to make (some students, especially kids, like to make 10+ pieces of paper during this workshop!). You’re free to make as many pieces of paper as we have time for.

This workshop will be facilitated by Christina Threloff, owner and sewist behind My Lovely Muse. The class will be held inside Haven + Main, located at 211 Washington Ave, Grand Haven, MI 49417.

The fee for this class is $25 per person, and all materials will be provided.

Beeswax Wrap Workshop at Gathered Botanicals

Are you intrigued by the zero waste movement, but aren't sure how to get started? Are you overwhelmed by the sheer amounts of plastic found in your kitchen, but don't know what to use in its place? In this virtual workshop, Christina will facilitate an informational discussion of materials then together, we'll make our own lovely, reusable, and eco-conscious beeswax wraps! When you leave this workshop, you'll have the power (and skill) to be able to eliminate plastic wrap from your kitchen forever as well as your very own beeswax wraps to use at home!

At this workshop you will go home with 2 beeswax wraps that you make during the event and a link to more information so you can make them on your own.

Additional beeswax solution bars ($10 each) are also available. Each bar makes approximately 3-12"x12" square wraps.
